We have a 1940's red brick house with black shutters and a green door. Our exterior light fixtures are white and blend into the house.
The previous owners added an extra large garage onto the side of the house. The garage door is white, surrounded by white vinyl, it's all very... well, white.
To give the garage door a little character I bought black iron hardware to give it a carriage house feel. The hardware is decorative, not functional and only cost about $25 for the most basic 6-piece set. (examples shown below).
I would like to add the 2 lights below to go on either side of our garage door. The black lighting, with the black iron garage door accents will hopefully make the garage a design feature and not just an "add on" after-thought.
I love these! With how prominently garages are featured on houses these days it is really nice when you see when there is an attempt to make them look good. Love the hardware and lanterns- can't wait to see it!

ReplyDeleteWow, cool post. I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real hard work to make a great article... but I put things off too much and never seem to get started. Thanks though. electrical post light
